Sidney Blumenthal gives us Novak as The Informer. He teases us with what we all know:
The tension of possibly being asked an impertinent question about Valerie Plame was unbearable for Robert Novak. Before it could be posed on CNN's Aug. 4 "Crossfire," Novak growled a vulgarism, threw off his microphone, and stalked off the set. Within an hour, a CNN spokesperson announced that the Washington columnist, who had been one of CNN's original marquee attractions, had engaged in "inexcusable and unacceptable" behavior and was suspended: "We've asked Mr. Novak to take some time off."
UR, please notice that Crossfire is in quotes: don't be distracted. Let's just move on to the "lyricism" of his conclusion.
